01 Transportation
Having a father who was a bus driver allowed me to be one of many community members who benefitted from the public transportation system. For a working-class family, public transportation was the only way I went to and from school on a daily basis. It continues to be my main source of getting to and from WSU. As a Pullman resident, I have learned more about the transit system, including my role in the WSU Transit Advisory Group.
Providing access to public transportation to all is a deep passion of mine. I will support enhancing Pullman’s public transportation system, ensuring it is well-funded and sustainable. Most importantly that it works for all residents of Pullman who rely on it daily.
02 Housing & Tenant’s Rights
Affordable housing is much needed in our Pullman community. I support policies that encourage lowering rent and providing rent assistance. I also believe renters are entitled to dignified living spaces maintained by their landlord that are affordable year after year.
I will advocate and support at both the state and local level for enforcing tenant’s rights and increasing affordable housing, especially for renters.
03 Labor Protections
As a member of the UAW/WSU Coalition of Academic Student Employees, I know how important it is to create a safe space where dialogue can be had among workers. It is a first and powerful step toward advocating for better pay and working conditions.
I will work with local unions to establish a workers’ council. This is the first step to achieving consultation on how to best protect and uplift collective union power in Pullman.
04 Food Insecurity
In the face of stagnant wages, purchasing needed groceries has become a financial hardship for many.
I would like to advocate for funneling resources towards providing more opportunities to bring nutritious food to locations where residents need it most.
05 Reproductive, Abortion, and Gender Affirming Care
Pullman is only a few miles away from Moscow, Idaho, where abortion is currently banned. Further, over state lines in Idaho, gender affirming care is banned for youth under 18 years old. No one should have control over the rights of someone’s body.
I support implementing policies that make sure we continue to protect these rights for all who need essential healthcare services, no matter where they are located.
